As a Retail Cashier, you will play an important role in ensuring smooth daily store operations while delivering excellent customer service. You will interact with customers daily, process transactions accurately, assist with merchandising activities, and support inventory management to ensure the bookstore remains well-organized and fully stocked.

Work Week: 5 Days
Working Hours: 44 Hours Per Week
Job Responsibilities
Cashiering Operations
• Operate Point-of-Sale (POS) systems efficiently and accurately
• Process customer purchases, payments, refunds, and exchanges according to company procedures
• Handle cash, credit card, digital payment transactions, and vouchers responsibly
• Ensure all transactions are completed accurately with proper documentation
• Maintain accountability for cash float and daily sales collections
Customer Service Excellence
• Provide friendly, professional, and helpful customer service at all times
• Assist customers with inquiries regarding products, promotions, and store services
• Resolve customer concerns and requests promptly and professionally
• Create a welcoming shopping experience that encourages customer loyalty
• Support customers in locating books, stationery items, educational materials, and other retail products
Merchandise & Stock Management
• Replenish merchandise on shelves and display areas
• Monitor stock levels and report low inventory to supervisors
• Assist with stock receiving, unpacking, labeling, and organizing merchandise
• Support inventory checks and stock-taking exercises
• Ensure products are displayed neatly and according to merchandising guidelines
Store Operations Support
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of cashier counters and store areas
• Ensure displays remain attractive, organized, and customer-friendly
• Assist in setting up promotional displays and seasonal campaigns
• Follow company operational procedures and retail standards
• Support daily store opening and closing activities when required
Sales & Customer Engagement
• Promote ongoing store promotions and membership programs
• Recommend suitable products based on customer needs
• Identify opportunities to enhance customer satisfaction and sales performance
• Contribute positively toward achieving store sales objectives
Requirements
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following qualities and qualifications:
• Minimum secondary education preferred
• Previous retail, cashiering, or customer service experience will be an advantage
• Positive attitude with strong customer service orientation
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Responsible, reliable, and detail-oriented
• Comfortable handling cash transactions and operating POS systems
• Willing to work retail operating hours, including weekends and public holidays when scheduled
• Able to stand for extended periods during working hours
• Candidates who can commence work on short notice will be highly preferred
• Must be available during peak retail seasons, especially November and December
